Grab (GRAB) and stablecoin operator Circle plan to pilot the Web3 wallet within the Grab super app.
Grab’s Web3 wallet will be available for users of the transportation booking, food delivery and digital payments app in Singapore to use vouchers in the form of non-fungible tokens (NFTs) and earn rewards and collectibles, the companies said. The first phase of the trial will take place during the Singapore Grand Prix on September 17.
Grab has around 180 million users, making it one of the most popular consumer apps in Southeast Asia. Circle operates the stablecoin USD Coin (USDC), which is pegged 1:1 in value to the United States dollar.
“I think it’s very easy for us to envision a world next year where we can engage a billion users and have access to Web3, and therefore have access to transacting with stablecoins,” Circle CEO Jeremy Allaire said at the Token2049 event in Singapore.
