DOGS, the dog-themed meme coin built on the TON blockchain, has officially announced a new date for its Token Generation Event (TGE) and the distribution of the $DOGS token airdrop, set to begin on August 23 at 7:00 PM WIB.
In a statement released on their Telegram community channel on August 19, the DOGS development team noted that users could start claiming their tokens on centralized exchanges (CEX) and Telegram Wallets from August 16 to August 21. For those wishing to claim their tokens in a non-custodial wallet, the process will only be available starting August 23.
Users who prefer to claim through a CEX can currently use platforms like OKX, Bybit, and Bitget for $DOGS deposits. On the other hand, non-custodial wallet users can utilize the Tonkeeper app, although they are required to have gas fees available in Toncoin (TON).
This new schedule was implemented following a delay previously set for August 20, allowing users additional time to complete their token claims.
Community-Centric $DOGS Tokenomics
In addition to the new airdrop schedule, DOGS has also revealed updates to their tokenomics, focusing largely on community support, with a total supply of $DOGS reaching 550 billion.
A significant 81.5% of the total supply is allocated to the community, with 73% of that supply—approximately 400 billion $DOGS tokens—set to be distributed via airdrop. The remaining tokens will be given to traders, DOGS sticker creators, and new community members. Currently, around 42.2 million users are eligible to receive the airdrop.
Furthermore, 10% of the total token supply will be reserved for the team and project development over a 12-month vesting period. The remaining tokens will be allocated for liquidity on both CEX and DEX platforms.
DOGS has quickly become one of the most anticipated mini-apps on Telegram, inspired by the popular dog meme character Spotty, created by Telegram CEO Pavel Durov.
Despite being launched just last July, DOGS has already attracted over 53 million users to its app, making it one of the most popular mini-apps on Telegram, alongside others like Hamster Kombat and Notcoin.
