The US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has just delayed the Bitcoin exchange-traded fund (ETF) filings of global asset managers BlackRock, WisdomTree, Invesco Galaxy, Valkyrie, Bitwise, VanEck and Fidelity to August 31, 2023. This means the SEC has the next 45 days to approve, reject or delay the filings again – which falls on October 17, 2023.
This comes just one day after one of the largest crypto asset managers, Grayscale won a lawsuit against the SEC on August 30 regarding Grayscale’s intention to convert their managed assets into a Bitcoin ETF and had made Bitcoin prices rebound to $28,142 and fell to $25,333 when the news of the SEC rejection came out. Even though many people predicted that the SEC would “soften” in giving permission after losing against Grayscale.
