The year 2024 is about to come to an end. The crypto market as a whole saw an extraordinary rally throughout the year, despite a significant drop following the hawkish announcement by the Federal Reserve in mid-December.

1. Virtuals Protocol
The top-performing crypto of 2024 is Virtuals Protocol (VIRTUAL), with a price return exceeding 23,079.2% among the largest market-cap crypto assets.
Virtuals gained price growth due to the launch of Virtuals Protocol’s artificial intelligence (AI) agent, which became one of the most popular narratives of the year.
Virtuals opened at $0.01311 or around IDR 211 at the start of 2024 and surged in the last quarter to reach $3.51 or about IDR 56,000 as of the writing of this article on Tuesday, December 31, 2024.
2. Brett
Next is Brett (BRETT), which launched its token at $0.0009766 or IDR 15 on February 29, reaching $0.1153 or about IDR 1,862 on December 31, soaring approximately 13,503%.

The fourth spot goes to MANTRA (OM), which saw a gain of 6,031% as its price increased from $0.0584 or around IDR 942 on January 1 to $3.54 or about IDR 57,000 on December 31.
This makes MANTRA the most profitable real-world asset (RWA) investment of the year, 9 times higher than Ondo Finance (ONDO), the next most profitable RWA investment, which gained 682.8%.
5. Mog Coin
Mog Coin (MOG), another cat-themed meme coin, also saw growth of up to 5,177%, securing the fifth position as the best-performing crypto of 2024.
Mog Coin is considered the first culture coin on the internet, and its logo is taken from joycat, which represents the community’s enjoyment of the project.
Three of the top five cryptos listed here are meme coins, continuing the trend from 2023, when the top crypto asset at the end of the year was a meme coin, namely BONK.
